I have a background in hospitality and teaching. It was during the time I was teaching that I found many of the young adults I was working with were often in need of pastoral care, to enable them to fully access their education. So I began my formal training in counselling to ensure I was supporting students in the best possible way.

Since then I have had almost twenty years experience working in a G.P. practice, higher education including a college environment and my private practice. I have also worked in the voluntary sector supporting survivors of childhood trauma and sexual abuse. More recently I have worked in a private school for young people (11-19 years) with challenging behaviour, sexualised behaviour and learning difficulties, often on the autistic spectrum. I was responsible for developing and running the therapeutic element of the schools treatment programme, I return on a regular basis to the UK as a consultant to the school.

I am highly experienced in working with people from a vast array of backgrounds and difficulties, offering both short term counselling and longer term psychotherapy. I am an integrative therapist, meaning that I draw from several models of therapy in which I have trained in over the years.

Each person is different, therefore no one therapy suits every individual. My underlying philosophy is person centred, meaning that I offer a warm non-judgemental, empathic and honest relationship, encouraging clients to explore and make sense of difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences, therefore helping them to develop a greater insight into the issues they bring, and to discover new ways of dealing with them. My aim is to listen and work in such a way that offers understanding support and integrity.

Below are some of the issues clients have brought to our sessions e.g. Change in life circumstances:
